USCIS Introduces First-Ever Fee Waiver Form

USCIS has announced the introduction of a standardized form for requesting fee waivers.  The new form, Form I-912, Request for Fee Waiver, becomes available November 23, 2010. 

Grounds for approval of a fee waiver include

  • receipt of means-tested benefits,
  • household income below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines, and 
  • financial hardship situation such as recent unemployment, high medical expenses, and/ or other unexpected large expenses.
